Why a 100% speed bonus does not make a timer disappear

The percentage describes faster work—not a percentage of the clock erased.

Use the rate formula

Our construction and single-technology research planners use adjusted time = base time ÷ (1 + speed bonus ÷ 100). Under that formula, a 100% speed bonus doubles the rate and halves the base timer.

For a simple example, a 10-hour base timer with a 20% speed bonus becomes 8 hours 20 minutes. With a 100% bonus, the same base timer becomes five hours.

Do not mix speed with a resource discount

Faster research changes the time budget. A resource discount changes eligible costs. They answer different questions, and a time-saving calculation is not evidence that you can afford the upgrade.

Use the combined speed percentage applicable to that action. The planner does not infer every buff, stack rule or temporary modifier from your account.

Then account for help and speed-ups

The construction planner applies the speed bonus first, subtracts the entered help saving, then subtracts speed-up minutes. The remaining timer has a zero floor.

Help saving is an input based on what you observe. We do not assume a universal seconds-per-help value for every alliance or every timer.

Before trusting a time estimate

  • Check that the base timer belongs to the correct upgrade step.
  • Enter the speed bonus that actually applies to construction or research.
  • Use realistic help counts and measured help savings.
  • Compare the estimate with the in-game timer, especially when temporary buffs change.
